Mitchell “Mickey” Hugh Holloway, 75, passed away May 2nd, 2023 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Durham, North Carolina to the late Hugh Cain Holloway and Emma Holloway McDaniel.Mr. Holloway served as a United States Marine, a Durham County Deputy Sheriff, and volunteer fireman. He worked as a contractor, was owner of the Pop Shoppe and Under the Boardwalk in Durham, and later as flagman at Orange County Speedway and other NASCAR events.His love for the Duke Blue Devils was rivaled only by his love for fast pitch softball.Mr. Holloway is survived by his wife, Valinda Holloway; sons Chris and wife Jennifer Holloway, Troy Holloway; daughter Kellie and husband Rod Matthews; and sister Wanda Holloway Stephenson.He was proceeded in death by his grandson-in-law James Farthing.He was grandfather to Jessica Farthing, Zackary, Gavin and Chloe Matthews, Peyton and Hayden Holloway, Miles and Charlotte Holloway.He was great grandfather to McKenna Farthing.A remembrance will be held Saturday, May 6th form 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the residence of his son Chris Holloway.
