Richard (Dick) Blalock status

I have been corresponding with Richard about his heart issues and today he gave me the following update:
Just an update. A week ago yesterday , I was admitted for Cardiac  Cath at Adventist Orlando, and a Cath revealed that my heart had no flow of blood whatsoever. They refused to let me leave the hospital, and the next morning, I had twin bypass surgery. I was out of surgery in about 14 hours, and came home from hospital yesterday afternoon. A long week I must say.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the doctors and other professionals at Adventist Orlando, 3rd largest hospital in the US, 1st in Florida. They really provide and incredible atmosphere and a very “God Presence” throughout the facility. Twice a day, once by the Chaplain and once by a lead on the nursing staff say a public prayer on the intercom system for all the patients and their families throughout the hospital. The complex includes a large Cancer Center, a Heart Center, a Woman’s hospital and a Childres’ center, complete with Disney Theme.

Although the food not the best in the world, it was an incredibly place for healing. Last Wednesday afternoon I was informed that the 2 stents I had received there 18 years ago were completely occluded, and there was no blood flow through my heart. I  was told it would be suicide to go home and reschedule, and at 11AM last Wednesday, I rolled in for twin bypass surgery. Everything went like clockwork!

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Pete
